It turns out that creativity runs in the Creative Media People family! Sam Utt-Grubb, husband of CMPʼs founder Kelly Utt-Grubb, left his high-tech engineering job in 2011 to pursue his passion for creating classic American farmhouse-style furniture. As soon as he started selling his creations, demand took off, as friends, family and everyone else all wanted to be the next to own one of Samʼs original creations.
Sam’s transition from hobbyist to small business owner was smooth and natural, and CMP has been an essential part of the process from the beginning. We created a classy single-color logo that evokes the simple charm of a classic American farmhouse, and building on the look of the logo, our designers created a website that lets Sam’s creations shine. The background of the site echoes the beautiful texture of the antiqued pine that the furniture is built from, while the site’s intuitive navigation invites visitors to browse in comfort and confidence. Finally, our content writer accentuated the brand’s folksy personality with names and descriptions for each item that recall their roots in rustic Southern Americana.
Orders were already rolling in, but our PR and social media team wasn’t done yet. We continued to take Carolina Farmhouse to the next level with online promotions, lively Facebook activity, and a bold PR campaign that’s seen impressive results, leading up to Sam’s recent appearance on national tv with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. And why yes, that’s First Lady Michelle Obama and popular television star Ty Pennington standing in front of the custom entryway gate Sam designed and built for the show.

Sam’s work is both functional and beautiful, and he’s proud to have a career creating pieces that will be a part of their owners’ lives for generations.
